I go with my Shiba boy for 6-8km’s hikes without leash (approx 1.5 hours), and never had any problems. He can easily run up to 100m away in some seconds, but he wants us to be in his sight. And when we call for him, he always comes back and gets a treat in return + extra positive reinforcement. No problems whatsoever with behaviour.
