Uninstall, then reinstall? Maybe update nvidia drivers too, if you have an nvidia graphics card?
I get the exact same thing when trying to load episode 1. glad I saw the issue before buying the actual game. The only thing I can theorize, is that it might be a graphics card issue?

Naughty ghoul Mar 27, 2015 @ 5:07pm. Game won't launch. I've looked around for any other topics related to this but the ones that I found didn't solve the issue for me so. Here goes. Whenever I go to start the game I get a message that it's launching and the icon will appear on my taskbar for a few seconds and then disappear.
I know that Ep. 4 has apparently caused some launching issues for many, which seems to have an easy fix, but I think my issue is different: I just finished upgrading to Windows 10 and all of my Steam games seem to work fine, except for Life Is Strange. I get the popup asking me to launch the game normally or in safe mode, and after that it looks like it's about to launch it but nothing at all
